Basic First Aid Certificate

This course is suitable for members of the public with an interest in learning first aid, for youth groups, sporting organisations, transition year students. This introductory course will teach you how to handle an emergency situation and also covers vital lifesaving and resuscitation techniques. When an accident happens, your first reaction is vital: the more you know about First Aid, the more effective you will be. Topics covered in the course include:

• Accident Scene Management
• Control of Bleeding
• Managing a choking casualty
• Dealing with Heart Attacks
• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation – CPR
• Burns and scalds
• Injuries to bones and joints
• Accidents in the home

Certification

Certificates which are valid for three years are issued to successful participants. A valid certificate in Basic First Aid generally satisfies insurance requirements. Please note that this Certificate in Basic First Aid does not satisfy the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) requirements for industry.

We also run Occupational First Aid which is a 3 day course.
