Course Content

When designers are planning a project they follow a specific sequence; determine the client’s requirements, Sketch a room, look for inspiration, draw the Floor Plan and decide on Furniture Layout, complete a Lighting Plan, select and present a scheme, manage and complete the Project. Our course will follow a similar sequence as you each redesign a room in your own home. An approximate course plan is given below.

Week 1:

Sketching a room, Finding Inspiration, Completing a client profile survey.

Week 2:

Floor Plans and Furniture Layout.

Week 3:

Lighting

Week 4 to 6:

Colour, Colour Schemes, Window Treatments, Preparation and Presentation of Sample Boards.

Course Materials

To get the most from the course it is a good idea to buy a scrapbook or folder and to compile a collection of pictures from magazines that appeal to you. You should also start collecting furniture brochures, paint charts, fabric samples.
